Jim Hogg Park Oct 24/25 2014 - Review

We just bought our trailer a couple of weeks ago and taking it on our maiden voyage next weekend at Jim Hogg Park near lake Georgtown. ... rkId=71231

Anyone interested in joining us? I know it is short notice but it was one of the few we found spots available. Most of the other big ones (Perdanales, Garner, Guadalupe, etc.) were all booked up.

Would love to have some other campers there with us.

OK, here is a brief review of the park...sorry did not get that many pictures but did get some video.

Overall, park is clean and staff is friendly. The campground hosts made regular passes through the grounds to ensure things were going smoothly.

Bathrooms were clean (not spotless, but not smelly either). Bathrooms also had a couple of shower stalls with hot water. However, the bathroom closest to us was closed as they were replacing the septic tank. We had to walk to the upper restroom so it took a little longer than you might want.

Lot's of big RVs, 5th wheels, etc. but folks were friendly. It was mostly retired folks but there were some young families and even a few tent campers.

Water at the lake was really low but even so, it is still a huge lake.

Sites were paved with both electricity and water. Some had a lot of tree cover while others had very little to no trees. Each site had a designated fire ring and separate BBQ stand. Sites also had a covered picnic table. No recreation area that I could find (basket ball courts, volleyball, playground, etc.).

They did have a dump station on site right as you exit.

It was close to grocery stores, etc. in case you needed anything yet you still felt like you were away from the city.

You should drive a little further to LCG. Lots of us there to be with and plenty of spaces. ;)

Thanks but LA is a tad further than we are ready to venture on our first time out. Sounds like you guys will have lots of fun though.

Java Jack, you should reconsider, it is a great event that Mark is talking about. We are going on Thursday and it takes us 5 1/2 to 6 hours to get there from Tomball. You will see bunches of teardrops and I know so many people that would love to see yours. It is just a little inside LA and you are there so quick that you don't even lose your accent. :) One way or the other, enjoy your CampInn, it looks really nice.

I'm sure I will make some of these gathers in the future. Right now, I'm keeping these first few trips fairly local.

I still need to replace my TV as it has 180K miles on it and I am not really trusting it for longer hauls at the moment. In fact, I have it apart in my driveway right now trying to get it to a more trustworthy condition.
