Spring Shootout -Tawakoni SP & 2bit Range May15-16th, 2015

Postby 2bits » Tue Feb 10, 2015 11:48 pm

Cindy wants to go shootin and suggested filling up the May slot with a campout, sounds good to me! May 15th is the weekend after Mother's Day.

Since I get so stressed trying to navigate people at my place and have limited in spaces at my place, lets camp nearby at Lake Tawakoni State Park which has nice private bath/shower facilities and wooded sites. 36 out of 46 total sites are available in the White Deer loop for $20/day. (The other loops are big rig loops).

We can road trip it to the 2bit shooting range on Saturday and spend a few hours lighting up the targets (I have Tannerite too!). I will have picked up some new targets by then too. My place is due West of the park about 30 min down some cool back roads so it will be a nice ride.

Here's the list so far for those confirmed:

Thomas
Greg n Terri
Woody n Tammy
Scott n Gerri
Dave n Joann (Weather contingent)
Dianne Cox (SW Teardrop group)

Sounds cool. What ranges are the ranges? :? Twenty paces?
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

You guys rock. Camping and shooting, wow!
If you were not so far away, I would be there. I am a Certified Range Safety Officer at my local indoor range and that should give you an idea of my interest.

It kills me that the easement at the front of my property is an absolute awesome setup to shoot. Open treeline, down then up slope, 150 yard distance... The only problem that the easement is for a natural gas pipeline! :o So yeah... no shootin in the easement!

Pipeline easements are hell. We have one being pushed through our neck of the woods. Not our backyard, but certainly will screw up my hunting area.

Bob, my easement isn't bad, it is parallel to the road at the front of the property so it's only real drawback is that I would prefer the trees. It will make a great garden though!

Woody, glad you'll be coming out!!

Looks like there's enough interest to make a gathering so I reserved Fri-Sat in the White Deer Loop. It's $20/night and you need to make your own reservations. 35 sites left so plenty o time.

Hehe well also if you overshoot just a little too high you could also hit a car by the way the road curves at the top of the hill too!
