No Beavers Bend 2019

Linda has advised us that as of December 31 st 2018 the Buckeye campground will be closed for 4-6 months for renovations.

That means no BB 2019 campout in April 2019 (that's 2019 not 2018) so I am putting this up while I am thinking about it just to let everyone know.

Linda is taking this as a sign to let her hosting of the Beavers Bend gathering go the way of LCG and be retired unless someone else would like to pick up the baton for 2020 when that time comes around.

Let's all give Linda some well deserved thanks for all her hard work and diligence throughout the YEARS she has coordinated this gathering with NO drama. :applause:

+1 I've only attended 3 BB gatherings (will attend BB 2018, as well), and it's been my favorite place to camp, so far (I never got to attend LCG gatherings, but I hear they were similarly great events). I'll miss it when it's over, and will miss Linda's great hosting of it. I'm sure it was/is a time and money consuming effort, and she seemed happy to do it. And friendly and gracious in person. Perhaps someone with people skills (like Linda) will resume hosting the BB event in 2020 ? That prerequisite certainly excludes myself, though. Thank you Linda !

I bet we can find another location for 2019, and then continue on at B.B. in 2020. It is a really nice place to meet!

Thank you Linda!

You have been a very kind, charitable and gracious host. We all appreciate your hard work that made the Beavers Bend outings the best camping experiences for us. Please tell Charles hello for us.

Thank you again,

THANK YOU Linda. This will be our 5th year (1st camp out) since we read (on the internet!) about a bunch of people who , go out in the woods, with total strangers for the weekend! With no idea or expectations! But then again, you then caused me to spend almost every weekend (above 30) on the road to meet/camp with our new friends! (when I could have been home watching t.v.?) But thank you for, like when I'd forget if i'd paid, or trying to reserve next year while you were trying to pack up, or I got you confused that Simon and Coyote were the same person. ( it's still not to late to give another go :D ) Thanks Dave/Joann

I'm a little late because I don't log in as often.

Nevertheless, thank you Lind and Charles for your generosity time and kindness in managing such a super-fabulous event! May you have many, many wonderful campouts together and with your grand-teardrops :applause:

Linda decided that last year would be her last year to host the gathering. So who knows. People are saying that they are removing the pavillion and moving the sites closer together which I don't know how that would be possible unless they do a KOA style big rig parking lot. We don't have a pavillion at alot of our rallies although alot of people consider that a deal killer. We will just have to see, personally I would like to do something new from now on and forever. Doing the same thing every month almost all year long gets old after ten dang years of it, I want to explore but that is just me, alot of people like the routine and never leave their campsite so it is all different for everyone. Time will tell.

Was there the weekend after Christmas. Changes have not started but are planned to start in Feb. The pavilion removal still up in the air for now, but "they" said plans will make the roads wider and the sites bigger.

Thanks for the update!!Those plans sound better than what we had heard before and I hope they keep the pollination, seems silly to remove it since there are already sites all around it anyway.
