Fairfield Lake

Postby 2bits » Fri Apr 26, 2019 11:03 pm

I was at Fairfiled Lake this week and had to miss the Lake Murray gathering this weekend because Wednesday night a monster storm came through and literally and totaly washed out the road and stranded every camper inside the campground. The park was awesome and within 48 hours the road was fixed at least temporarily for the trapped campers to leave.

* No problem for early retirees like you, huh Thomas? :picnic:  I had to serve (nearly, with 46 years there) my full adult life at one job, before I retired.

* I didn't go to Lake Murray, either, because
  • 1) too short of advance notice...I must arrange around my wife's social schedule (and unexpectedly, she had to go to her Aunt's funeral, etc., in KC, Mo. until Friday), and
  • 2) I've already spent my monthly allowance (its' 98% my SS and retirement paying the bills, but I have the allowance?...) on mods, gear purchases, so no camp fees available this month.

* Retirement isn't all I had hoped for, yet it still beats working 12-16 hours a day, being on call 24/7/365, having a 3.5-4 hour commute 5-6 days a week, and having to stay at the job in heavy/icy weather. Nope, don't miss that at all!

Thomas,

That is crazy! :? Glad to see that the park service stepped up.

Take care,
