E Bike Riders?

How many folks have an e Bike here? I am wanting to set up a trip to a cool location for some paved riding at an old 8500 ac Army munitions plant turned nature preserve. It is huge so a regular cyclist will simply not be able to keep up unless they are a pro. Lots of cool old relics to see and nothing crazy off road, I have been here twice. The place is located literally a mile or two at the most South of Caddo Lake state Park so that would be the camp location. The park is small so it would have to be an well advance reservation. Would be a cool day trip, post if interested. Here is a video of my last trip

I'm interested. Just got a new folder, similar to yours.

March is open. April is Beavers Bend, but either side of that is okay. July and August are spoken for. May and June are good, but getting warm.

Who else?

Cool!, Yeah Caddo books up fast so it would be a fall thing most likely.

I don't have an e-bike, but would like to tag along. Since "Caddo fills up fast," should you set a date 2bits?

BTW, I don't see a posting for Beavers Bend yet here on the site.

They won't let you book past the beginning of Aug right now so I am gauging interest. As long as you are up for a 20 mile ride!!

Thomas,

Re: gauging interest I'm in! Re: 20 mile ride In my heyday of riding, I was known to take off after breakfast and return about supper time. I'd cover 30-40 miles easy on a good day...on my Trek mountain bike. If it's mostly paved and relatively level, then I think I can hang for a 20 mile ride.

Cool yup, it is 99% paved and definitely all level!

Hey Thomas,

We don't have e-bikes (yet) but we probably can cover most of the 20 miles with "old school" bikes. However, our average speed on our comfort bikes is down to 10-11 mph from the 15-16 mph we used to be able to do. Who knows - e-bikes might be a nice gift to ourselves for our anniversary in June.

Take care,
Tom

That seems like a proper bicycle speed to me. I find 20 mph on any bike is sorta scary. :frightened:

I think they would be a good addition to your family, you can pedal if you want OR NOT! It is all up to you which is nice when you are pooped. When you are camping in summer, it turns a chore into a nice way to cool off and it also opens up the trails where you can do more exploring than you would normally be able to.

People many times associate e bikes with speed but my average speed is 7-12mph, I am a cruiser and explorer and Brad it right, I don't feel comfortable over 20 mph, my new bike has suspension which does help.

The $999 'Lectric 3.0 is a good bike from an American company with an actual phone number, I rode one at Tyler and it made all the crazy steep hills on that big loop around the back that you would never be able to do on a regular bike and my e bike was struggling, i was impressed. I am crazy about my bike.

Finally, a break in the heat!

I've been getting more interested in doing this, it's just that the future is somewhat uncertain. (Isn't it always?) I'm thinking that mid/late October will work for me, or any time after.

Anyone have other thoughts?

Sounds good, this has been on my list for a long time, the trick with Caddo is that it books up WAY in advance (The whole park is booked until the end of the year, so when we do it we will need to have people prepared, commited and ready to book at the same time in advance so when the booking window opens, we pull the trigger, definitely not a last minute kind of deal. That is honestly why I have delayed this deal because getting people to actually do that is going to be difficult
