I have two other people that I am meeting up with on the way over so far  . One is even from Portland, Oregon. How is it looking on you side?

If anyone is wanting to caravan with us let me know. I am leaving the Boise, Idaho area around 7:00 am. I am stopping, currently, in Hammett, ID and Glens Ferry, ID to meet up with some others who want to caravan together. We are also planning a stop at the Malad Narrows, not to be confused with the Malad Gorge which is farther downstream. Going to be fun.....
George.

Holy Moly, Looks like we got us a convoy.

Well at least you have one. Still looking forward to it.

I was out there Monday May 8th. roads took a beating last winter early spring.

Ole Scratch crossing the lavas

Time to turn Ole Scratch about and head home. About 25 miles out on the desert. Same road we took last year.

This water hole should be dry in four weeks. If not there is a trail around it. Ole Scratch just was not up to dragging his bottom over it.

How many people we have coming to this?

As of right now I have four other vehicles that are traveling over with me or meeting up with us on the way. I have one other that said he is going, but I am not sure if he is planning to travel with us. Those people I am pretty sure are going to go. I have two other vehicles that are maybes. As far as how many people I am not sure. At least 7 as of right now. Could pick up a bit more as time draws near. Most of these people are set up for Overlanding so bad roads should not be a problem for this crowd. In fact I think they would prefer challenging roads.

I just kind of consider it a free for all. I don't really plan on any activities other than just driving around and camping out there. So few outsiders ever see that area, thought it would be cool to show some outsiders the area.

I would assume that you do have some points of interest? If not I can put together some for the area and if we are in the area we can check them out.

There are a few points of interest. All seem to be around lava. LOL.

Some might lose interest. One of the best is a hike over lava for a total of 3 miles or more. I will be watching that one as I do not believe I can do it now. Been there twice.

3 miles one way or round trip? I will see what I can find and have it available if needed. Not to take over the trip planning, but just to supplement if need be. Do you have planned destinations for camp sites, or just stop where we stop for the night? Oh and just so you know I think the most interesting points of interest is in the lava from my investigation of the area before. Lots of cool areas and caves.....

That hike is about 3 miles round trip. Not counting the ups and downs. Lava hiking is different.

I have places planned, But as there are no camp grounds out there we will find an area that looks suitable near the days destination and make camp. There will be stops along the way and maybe side trips. Who knows what may happen.

I will have at least 2.5 gallons extra gas. Others can bring what they wish. I have tow chains and tow straps. Have yet get a pair of jumper cables. Do have a little jump battery that handles my outfits pretty good.

With all the grass growing this year there will probably be some dry enough to burn but not very fast. Yet. that happens from July-Sep. Will still need fire watch and fire restraint in camp. Shovels are nice to have as are 2 gallon weed sprayers with water.

Sounds good. Thanks. Also, those weed sprayers make nice camp showers too.

I had Ole Scratch out on the desert again yesterday. June grass is dry and the seeds will get in your socks. Wear boots with a fully gusseted tongue to make living out there easier. Not a deal breaker but a lot less time picking june grass seeds out of your socks and feet. This time Ole Scratch dropped the rear of the exhaust. Luckily the previous owner had a new support ring and a used on in the trunk. They got me home
