Nightcap,
There are a lot of places to camp at ocean shores. There are a lot of public, And member only camping areas.
I will be there a couple times a month for practice during the winter, And hope to stay in the teardrop.
Just look ahead a couple days and see what the weather is looking like, Cause it can get prety harsh there during the winter. Also check out the tide tables during the winter.
I have seen quit a few people loose there cars on the beach when the tide comes in. Its a lot worse during the winter then the summer. It will come in all of a sudden and it makes 20 to 50 foot leeps at a time, And will pull your car right into the sea.
Just stay close to one of the approaches for quick getaways.

Does the tide get up to the dunes? That is scary.

I was there one time last winter when the tide was all the way up to the dunes, That's when I saw a bunch of cars get picked up and moved.
It happens so fast that it didn't give you any time to react. I was at the south approach and was in my car, So I moved quick, But alot of people were walking around and didn't have the time to move.
