Postby alloffroad » Sun Mar 09, 2008 9:43 pm

I am making it na point to get out fishing more this year and I want to start up around trukee. I have a book "Recreation Lakes of California" and it gives info for all of the lakes in Ca. except how the roads are. It describes them as "rough", "4 wheel drive", and "trailers not recommended". Can anybody give me info about this lake and others. I have a dodge durango so off roading is out of thew question but rough roads are with in reason. with gas prices, a leiserly ride is some what out of the question.

I grew up in Grass Valley and Auburn, and used to go up there to fish and camp a lot as a kid. Didn't go all the way to Bowman Lake much, but we fished the smaller lakes on the way up (Fuller, Rucker, Blue, etc.), and played around up on Grouse Ridge. If I remember right, Bowman Lake Road is paved most, if not all the way. The side roads could get rough though. 4WD was needed to get to Blue Lake, but most of those roads are just dirt FS roads, your Durango should be fine.

(I haven't been in that area in about 15 years, so things may be diferent now!)
