2011 Ocean Tears Campout and Kite Fly

Postby NightCap » Wed Jun 23, 2010 12:16 pm

August 5th - 7th 2011

We have unanimously decided to hold the Ocean Tears Event the first weekend of August to have a better guarantee of good weather. It did rain a bit on our last outing but not enough to ruin anything. We had a very fun time and I even got a bit of a sunburn.

As soon as the Ocean City Campground registration opens up we can grab our campsites.

Super. I wanted to check out your electric setup some more. Did you use the harbor freight solar kit?

I got them on sale at Camping World for $100.00 each. It has a very simple charge controller.
It only puts out 3 amps on the sunniest part of the day.
I really like dreadcptflint's solar setup more than mine.
I think his is more efficient.

I also need to move the charge controller closer to the batteries.
I read that if it is too far from the battery the voltage drop confuses the controller.

I see that Cabela's has the Sunforce solar panels I have for $99.99 each, & $19.99 for the 7-amp controller. You can hook up 7 of the 15 watt-1amp panels.
But if you can afford it I would go for a larger panel.

Thanks for the kind words Eric. It is working for now however I am not done with it. It is going to take me a couple of hundred to get it to the next level. I am hoping Christmas if I am good.
