Here is something I found a few days back.

Click here the YouTube embed does not work, at least for me

I had never heard of this crash before. I do not know where it is, the Shoshone BLM district is a big place.

Just look for the big arrow on the right.

At least, that's where I was going.

We're hoping, too. A foursome is a pretty good number.

Thanks Capn for posting these.

Well, we'll see how it works out - you never know if it will last.

My first wife (still in the avatar - guess I better change that soon) and I were married 48 years before she passed away. My new wife was her good friend and the widow of an Army buddy of mine. She does not have a camping background so the next step is convert her or start looking for number 3.

Update: Avatar now changed. Here's the original avatar with first wife.

We made our first extended camping trip the summer after we were married - California to Texas than return via Colorado, Utah and Nevada with all our gear in a TR 4. We evolved to an Apache pop-up then reverted to tents for a couple of decades before I remembered my uncle’s teardrop back in the early 1950s and chose that route next about 5 years and 5 trailers ago.

Here's my most recent trailer and the one I had planned to bring to Idaho.

You would be surprised to know how many wrecks like this one are out in the deserts and mountains around here. This area was a big training area during WWII. I was just visiting a more modern wreck a few weeks back.

I found several crash sites in the California desert including an X-15 crash. I thought these guys knew how to fly.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Less than 2 weeks. Been having some rains here. Desert will be green and no fire danger.

Any last minute people want to join in no problem at all.

Randy,

Barring any unforeseen last minute problems at work, I will be there.
I will have to bug out real early Saturday to catch a flight in SLC in the afternoon.

Still will be good to get away for a few days..... :D :applause:

Yesterday I was driving around the edges of where we will be going. It is nice and green out there and the lupines are in bloom, at least on the southern part. I hope further north and a bit higher elevation they will be blooming a bit later. They are so blue tending to purple. I also saw a raw white one. Only the 2nd I have seen. Dust should not be much of a problem as even if there is no more rain plenty of water in the soil that it will not dry out completely by then. I think.

PS, gotta get use to having a cell phone with a camera on it or I would have taken a picture. Heck I even forget the cell phone completely and leave it home.

Randy, It's looking really doubtful for me. I'm buried at work. I keep thinking that if I work longer hours I can clear the way but it seems the longer and harder I work the farther behind I'm getting. I hired a guy starting tomorrow. If he works out well there is still a chance.
