Captain Telescope,

I had hoped to spend Wednesday night at city of rocks.
But Murphy has been kicking my butt like crazy at work for the last 2 weeks  :x :?
Plan to leave Salt Lake City Thursday morning.
I will see you at the water tower around noon :D :)

I need a break.......

If you get a chance, check out Rock City.
Its a red metal barn on the south east side of Almo, a little ways of the road.
They have a pretty good selection of brews....

Sorry Randy, There is just no way I can make it. This is something I really was looking forward to. It's an area the fascinates me but I would not be comfortable out there alone. My luck, my car would break and nobody would ever find me.I hope you guys have a lot of fun and adventure. Stay safe. At least there is safety in numbers.

My heart will be with you guys all weekend.

Randy,

I'm really bummed right now. My day did not go well again and for this project failure is not an option. So of to work I go... again tomorrow.

I echo what Robfisher said in the previous post. Your adventure is the type of stuff I enjoy. Camping and exploring rarely seen territory.
Oh well, hope you have a good time out there.... 8) :applause:
Please post some :pictures: :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:

Captain Telescope, hope to meet you sometime down the road.
Have a beer or two around the campfire for me.

So I only need to get one or two kegs of beer?

Too bad you guys can't make it. Keep the economy running. I may need it later.

See you down the road. Next summer I am not sure what I will do. Other than solar eclipse watching end of Aug. Am tossing some ideas around. What ever it is will probably be another traveling event. I have been to a lot of the gatherings and motorcycle camp outs and usually end up staying in camp pigging out. A traveling event helps to keep that to a minimum.

Hi Randy
Yes, a traveling event has a lot of merit.
Our first PNW Crawl last fall was an overwhelming success!
Those who participated had a great time, as it gave both the travelers and the campers an opportunity to enjoy the multiple benefits of owning a teardrop.
Thus, we have made the Fall Crawl an "Annual" event now  and are currently planning and accepting registrations for the 2016 Fall Crawl.
This year's Crawl will be held in Idaho, B.C. and Washington, hosted by the B.C. Chapter of the Tear Jerkers, taking in other Gatherings along the way.
Hope you can make all or any portion of it.
Good Luck with your event this coming weekend! :applause:
Hope the weather holds for you!
Good Roads
Brian & Sandi

I was sitting on the front steps taking a rest tonight and looking at the storm clouds blowing out if the south.
Got me to wonder if the rain hit you on the trail.
Guess so.....
Now I need to wait for the pictures

I haven't uploaded pics from my camera yet. Brad got some but he may need some time to get them here.

It was wet out there. very very wet. Over all only had one very touchy place almost got stuck. Then it rained more. a lot more. We did camp on the Mordor road. Discovered a fragment of an indian trail in the lava flow. That was very unexpected. Today it just kept raining and the roads was very slick but we was not sinking to much. Figured we had better start playing smart and we got out. Brad went to the headquarters of Craters of the Moon for tonight and I came home. Vehicles covered with mud when I got back to solid roads. Rain and travel has washed a lot off.

Next year?????? :? :? :? :?

Rain. Ouch.

Discovered a fragment of an indian trail in the lava flow.

In 1990 I bumped into a group of archeologists doing a dig at Dagger Falls near the head of the Middle Fork, Salmon River. I quizzed them on what they were uncovering. They told me that Indians from the Snake River near Blackfoot/Fort Hall would travel to the falls each summer to fish for salmon and that this was apparently an important food source until they obtained horses (which I think would have been about 1600 or so).

A hundred and fifty mile walk through the Land of Mordor. Quite the trip.

Looking forward to the pics.
