I had a great time meeting all my friends I had never met before.

Thank you all for the company

I did 382 miles from fill up for trip to fill up at same station as I went by.

Trailer is still mostly in one piece.

Had a great time meeting old friends and making new ones.
Just spend $19 in a self serv car wash getting the Jeep and trailer clean from all that dust and some mud.
It will take a little bit to get the running boards straightened out again.
Still had a lot of fun seeing one great open spaces.
Now its time for a cold one....

No problem.

The last camp was just North of Big Southern.... But we did go back home by Hwy 20 which took us a bit farther North.

Great video George,

It's funny, but driving I never really noticed the great western sky's.
Thanks of the video.
Sure hope I can make it next year :D

Back in the early '70's I worked a fire crew outta Atomic City. I think it was about '72 when a meteorite pounded over us. An hour later we rolled on a fire north of Howe. There hadn't been any lightning in the Great Basin for two weeks and suddenly we had nearly a hundred between Salt Lake and the Canadian border.

I think few people appreciate the sagebrush plains of the Snake River.

Ok, time for some pictures.

I did not want to drive the 250 miles to the jump off point in one day, so I spend the previous night camping in the "City of Rocks". The Oregon ran past the area and you can see some of the inspirations left behind.

149343

149344

Close look at some dates shows June 12.50, that's 1850. Some pretty old graffiti. And it is still there a 167 years later
149345

During a short morning walk say this little beauty
149346

Stopped along the Snake River to the met-up and saw this fellow of the the distance.
149347

Meeting at the water tower
149348

Crossing a lava flow
149349

149350

Randy and George looking at a map seeing were we are.......
149355

After crossing the flow stopped to explore and ended up spending the night.
149356

149357

Another stop next day was Bear Trap cave
149351

149352

Yup,that is ice in the middle of June in the cave
149354

At the cave we say 3 or 4 rattlers and heard a few more, so we were very careful as to were we stepped.
149353

More in the next post....
Stay tuned
Wolfgang

Thanks George and Wolfgang.

Any thoughts on an Oct camp at City of rocks? I am thinking of sites 36, 37 and 38. The picnic table at 38 is SPECTACULAR.

Very good! Might have to reconsider lowering the suburban and getting the sleeping arrangements completed. This is less than a tank away as I live in Middleton.

13th 14th

I have talked to the people running that place and they seemed to indicated we can get more than one rig in a site. Will check up on it later. will be cool-cold at night. Possible snow and who knows what that time of year. But nothing we can't handle. I will check to make sure those sights are not reserved.

Any others interested?
