I officially have that Friday off. Even if it snows, I'll be there.
Looks like I need to do the inner front axle seals before this trip. Yay.

Yeah, im definitely switching over to my winter sleeping bag. It's been 30's here at night's this week. Susposed to warm up next week though.

On my way up im gonna make a quick stop in Ogden to get a quote on a cargo trailer I've been looking at.

Well just a slight upgrade to a 5x10.
Long story short. Better weight distribution is needed.
Future plans include Alaska, Canada for weeks at a time.

One week to go. Lucky we are not there tonight or it could be called "An Idaho Freeze Out".

I am pretty confidant that next week will be a bit warmer than this week. But not a whole lot so bring your woollies, and other insulated clothing.

Rob, insulated sandals if yo got them. :D.

Fire wood if you can. ( I need to get busy and cut some up.) I will bring a splitting maul so don't worry about splitting it.

Kids
dogs
cats

On a leash. Well not the kids unless you want to.

See you brave people next week.

Learned from my last Idaho trip GPS dose not do well. It's trying to have me go through Snowville and probably end up in some farmers field .

Modstock,

The suggest GPS route is pretty easy. Typical Idaho gravel county road. Coming home from City of Rocks last time I caught myself going almost 60 a couple of times on the route below. Directions from Google maps..............

From SLC follow I-15 N and I-84 W to Box Elder County. Take exit 5 from I-84 W (Snowville), also last chance for gas until City of Rocks.
Continue on UT-30 W. Take UT-42 W and E Naf Rd S to E City of Rocks Loop Rd in Cassia County

Only thing to watch is the turns on the gravel section of the road. They are marked, but the signs are not real big, so if you drive kind of fast its easy to blow past your turn. BTW, that is the route I plan on taking if work does not get in the way.

Hope to meet you next weekend

I'll probably stick to the interstate on the way up but leaving the southern route through Lynn.
Is that resivore fishable ?
Is the gas station in Malta open ?
My winter bag is washed and ready to go.

I would not go the Lynn route this time of year. The road on the east side of the reservoir is steep and dirt. And often has deep ruts. And the reservoir is private property any way. The road does go over the top of the dam.

Gas station in Malta is open but does not have public restrooms. Can also get gas in Almo. I do not know about their restrooms.

It is a good road and I enjoy driving it. I just worry about getting part way up it with a trailer and finding something bad. If the weather remains dry would probably be ok. Could walk it first or drop the trailer and check it out.

Can see the salt from the top or someplace on the east slope
.

A small list of things to do.

Haunted Mansions of Albion. They do this every year at an old college. about 45 minutes away.

That is about it. Other than the City of Rocks itself. Which is plenty for me.

I am thinking of a weeny roast Friday and/or Saturday night. I have sticks and will bring weenies and buns and such.

Insulated sandals? Check. Wool socks.
Work has suddenly gotten very busy. Probably won't make it till Friday, but still planning on being there.

Wife isn't excited about the weather, but we plan to be there Friday to Sunday. Haven't towed the teardrop with the Jeep yet. So I'll be giving that a trial run tomorrow. Hope it goes well. :worship:
