Twain and Tears 2024

Postby nevadatear » Sat Jan 13, 2024 4:15 pm

Twain and Tears is Back! This is a rural Northern Nevada gathering. Basically, boondocking with a porta poti. Mark your calendars for June 6-9. The best part is the camping is FREE as it is festival style in a county park. We are asking a $10 donation to cover organization swag, but there is no charge for the campsite. Also, please let us know via this page or a DM that you are coming. Send your email address and we will send you a detailed travelogue. Please do NOT follow your GPS as it will take you on a many mile deserted dirt road. For more information, see post from previous event.

Location: Moeha Whitaker County Park, Unionville, Nevada

Hi Debbie and Randy, and anyone else that remembers me from the first Twain and Tears or the Hickison Petroglyph gathers,

Haven't been on the forum in quite a while, or to a gather, the kids have absconded with the tear drop in my avatar, the green Sequoia turned 318,000 and my wife bought me a new truck...

...to tow the 1955 caned ham inspired 16' standy (still shaped like a tear, but we call it the Rain Drop) I built in 2018. (I'll post a pic of as soon as I remember how that works.)

All that to say, Cathy and I are headed back to Alaska for our second trip this June, and I'm thinking we might be able to drop by Unionville on the way north. Well, that is if such a huge (7'x16') trailer will fit (yea, it will).

So maybe we'll see you there!

[quote="Modstock"]Looks great.

Thanks!

The curves are more or less patterned after the trailer on pick 108: https://www.mikestoller.com/Places/Unionville-NV-Teardrop-event/i-2X97fsS, save that it was built on a 2 axle BigTex Utility trailer. But this is the wrong thread for that detail.

John, I absolutely remember you! That was our first gathering. And your old teardrop had similar lines to ours. Would love to see you again. Send me DM with your email in it and I will put you on the list and send you directions to Unionville. Have a great trip to Alaska. New trailer looks cool.

Hope it's in better shape than the one in that pic! 8)

Beautiful trailer!

yes, it will fit for sure. But Just an FYI, the road from the highway to the park in Unionville is a well-maintained dirt road for about two-three miles. The campground isn't level, and is a dirt/grass area so you will need to be able to level it both front to back and side to side. We sure want you to come, but want to make sure you are comfortable with the road/site.

We've been north of the Arctic Circle up 400 miles of dirt road, Unionville is easy! Built it for off road.

Hey folks! If you are in the west, especially NorNV, NorCal and Idaho, make sure you take a look at the posting for Twain and Tears Gathering this June! It is a great little gathering.

So this gathering is coming up in two months. Summer camping will be here before we know it. For some, it has already started! Let me know, either here in the post or a dm and I will shoot you the directions, add you to the list, welcome you to the group!
