Looking for a nice campground in the Las Vegas area

We will be taking a tent along, for our 11 year old grandson. I'm betting I get stuck in the tent, and Brandon and Grandma will get the Roadhouse.

Anyway, the boy lives in Henderson, NV. I know there are some spots around Lake Mead, but is that all? Anything on the West side? Where have you camped, and did you like it?

I've only spent the night, in July, so we got a campsite with electricity for the A/C. It was a bland, boring place, with no place for a tent.

Cliff,

There is a nice campground at Red Rock. It is called 13 Mile Campground. It is off Charleston Blvd as you head towards Red Rock Canyon. There are new sunshades installed this summer. Pit Toilets and great views of the canyon.

We use this campground as a quick getaway. It is about 15 minutes west of the strip.

Let us know when you will be camping!

True, but Vegas is already 4 hours from us, and we only have a 3 day weekend. As this would be the Grandson's first camping trip, we thought we'd better stay close.

Sorry. Just saw Las Vegas. Did not look at your location. That would make for a much longer trip.

Maybe next time. :)

We decided to postpone our trip, due to finances. We plan to be there for the New Year's bash with LVDOS.
