David & I are planning on being there with the Old Mutt.
The plan is to go up on Thursday & arrive some time in the afternoon.
There are a couple of possibilities that could foul up our plans, but I won't know that until farther into July.
We're looking forward to it & David is looking forward to going on the brewery tour.

I cut it three times and it's still too short!!

Can't wait to go. A beautiful area. Is this a dry camping situation? I'm assuming so because Point Cabrillo dosn't seem to be a regular campground. Are we having the usuall potlucks? When exactly is the brewery tour? I know- lots of questions. Just want to be prepared. I'm still somewhat of a newbie or will be until I get to the regular run of gatherings at least once and know what to expect.

Mary and others...this site doesn't have regular type sites like you would find in a FS campground...there are several large fire rings, tables scattered around a large mowed field. there are also some electrical hookups, with water spigots. A few individual sites, typically a group will gather around a fire ring area and bunch up tables. It's a "camp where you like" type of campground, a big open field.

A pot luck will be on Sat, at least was last year. Showers, laundry and toilets are in the bath house and if you camp down in the lower portion, it's a hike...and it is keyed, so don't stick the key in your pocket and forget to pass it on...It's not a real structured type of gathering and Lee will come by and collect the fees for each of us.

Expect cooler temps, some fog which is cool when you hear the fog horn, and see the lighthouse light, and hear the sea lions, but I got sunburned last year...fell asleep with my arm hanging out the tear. I don't have info on the brewery tour...Doug

8) The Gathering at the Point is a beautiful one, especially if the wind & wave action, and weather are all just right. Last year the weather was spectacular, but remember to bring your sweatshirts cuz the fog can roll right in up to the headlands pretty fast. Lots of artsy shops/boutiques to see in the nearby town of Mendocino, and Ft. Bragg has some places to see was well. Check out the brewery and the lightouse.

I'm going to be coming and I am not yet sure when, maybe early to get a prime camp spot for the SST. Can't tell ya when Dean & Kids will be coming down either, or what they'll be towing??? You know the motto now,
why build when you can borrow. Yes, that's the one. And ouch, Jerome, what a nasty foot problem to deal with. I could see how you might have done it at the campsite at Shasta, but was the view there awesome! Hope you can hobble down for a stay and good luck and speedy recovery after your surgery.

Mary, the potluck happened last year on Saturday. Bring your chair and plates, along with an item to eat/share. There will probably be a campsite with a big table for us to pile the DO's on. If you camp hop (table/table), you'll probably find someone to share a meal with there. A small portable table would be nice as the big picnic ones don't move well. Also, there were faucets available along the edges of the campsites and we could set up someone's Coleman there to kick in the hot water by the trailers. I think we did set one up there for the four or five of us who shared a site last time. The bathrooms with showers were very nice, at the top of the campground, about a 100 yd. from any of the gathering spots. They have wi-fi and a laundry there also. It was a nice, open campground with a stunning vista of the ocean. See you folks when I get there.....

I'm sure you are going to want to beat the morning traffic in Willits!!!  and for those of you that don't know the inside track...this cat likes to leave like 4:30 AM and I'm 30 min away from him for a 3+ hour drive, including breakfast!!!! :R I'm sure we'll get our choice of camping spots however...Doug

The Skunk train station is right behind NC brewery building. NC stout was to be named after the train engine #45 but Colt 45 Malt Liquor was out there so the stout is Old 38. And it is NOT skunky!!

Dutch Oven Prime Rib by Dean? That was a highlight of the IRG. This is really beginning to sound like a terrific gathering. I can't wait.
My wife, son and I will be setting out hours before dawn on Thursday, but we probably won't arrive until a few hours before dusk.
Now what goes with prime rib.. :campfire:

I'm glad to hear so many are going to be there! I better call and reserve the lower field.

for those of you who havn't been; It's like Doug said "Low Key" no planned events acept the potluck on saturday and enjoying eachothers company. If you don't have anything for the potluck don't wory as there is always more food than can be eaten.

See you soon.
Lee
