 Believe it or not. That was just a field that we were parking in while stealing some apples.

(But we weren't the only ones.)

That must have been Fruita, was there an old one room school house nearby, the park service likes for people to stop and steal the fruit, better than having it fall on the ground.

Just found out that we have a convention in Vegas earlier in the week, so unless I don't get the trailer done, we'll definatly be there!

(It's great when you can work a vacation into a business trip and write it off) :D

Sounds good Jeff be looking forward to see'n you and your lovely wife. I think at this point if you bring a tear, and I bring a tear, and a fellow from ogden brings one, we will have 3 tears and 3 tabs there. How is the weather treating you up North. It has all but stopped me here, to cold to glue, but I do have my hatch in place, I will do the picture thing when I can get to walgreens (35mm). Jim G

Jim,

It's been pretty darn cold here (highs in the single digits, lows below zero), finally got up above freezing this week, but is supposed to cool off again.

I don't have a garage to work on my tear, it's actually in a commercial space that I have, but there is only a standard 36" door on the building, so I have to pre-fab it, them bring it outside to do the final assembly. There's no heat in the space right now, so I haven't been doing much. Hopefully spring will come early, and I can get back to work on it.

Email... Good Questions! update Robbers Roost

Postby Yogi Bear » Wed Feb 21, 2007 11:26 am

Paul:

IC where you show all the places that are on the way to Red Rock Campgrounds.
Could I ask your opinion on a few questions? Would like to make plans going and coming, as
far as stopping along the way to the event? Your opinion would be appreciated?

1) Should I plan to visit any places of interest before and after the gathering there at Red Rock? Not during the stay?
2) What of this place where the bad guys hung out in a safe place?
2a) Where is that?
2b) Is that worth going to see?
3) What or where would you visit for sure on this adventure?
4) Will there be day trips during the stay at Red Rock? If so where?
5) Are there any group events to expect during this stay at Red Rock?

Thank you for your help, Paul

sdtripper2

Steve,

Thank you for your email. I am sure there are others that would like to know the same.

To answer your questions...

1) Should I plan to visit any places of interest before and after the gathering there at Red Rock? Not during the stay?

Yes, that is what the camp out is all about. During the stay I will be visiting Capitol Reef National Park. (see LINKS on our club page) Bryce Canyon is on the way home and it's along a Scenic Byway 12 that is wonderful to drive. (see LINKS on our club page) I placed the links on the club page so members could plan there own trips.

The Utah Salty Tear Drops club page at: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/salty_teardrops/

During the day, your time is your own. I will not be giving any tours. I may point at a map for members to find there destinations. But, I will be off to see the parks.

I am sure after everyone arrives on Friday, people may want to take tours together. But, that's up to the individuals.

Campers may come and go as they like. Some may like to visit with others in camp or show off there rigs... Some will leave camp early to see the sights... Some may like to sleep in...

2) What of this place where the bad guys hung out in a safe place?

There are many hikes and view in the area. Contact the Nat. Parks and Utah State Park for safe hikes and drives. Again (see LINKS on our club page) for phone numbers and info.

BTW: Some off road trails drop right off the mountain into deep canyons so check you maps!

There are maps that show Robbers Roost to be East of town. The map shows four Jeep roads into the Robbers Roost area. The last part is a short hike. If I am reading the map right. There maybe nothing there to see but a nice view. I don't know. But, I will go and check it out for myself. To my best knowledge no one has ever found Robbers Roost! That's why it was such a great Hide Out!

There are many ghost towns in Utah. Western movie sets too. Gun Smoke was filmed in Utah, Dodge City, KS is in Utah!
It still stands in Kane County. (see LINKS on our club page) Pic's at
2b) Is that worth going to see?

There maybe nothing there to see but a view out over the canyon. I don't know for sure. But, I will go and check it out for myself and hope you will too. Bring your camera!

3) What or where would you visit for sure on this adventure?

Well, that is up to you I guess... I like the Jeep'en and hiking trails the best. The Nat. Parks are always good to see. The state parks always hold something you have never seen before.

"Adventure?" you ask?

4) Will there be day trips during the stay at Red Rock? If so where?

No guided trips.

5) Are there any group events to expect during this stay at Red Rock?

YES! And still planning...

Saturday night there will be a Dutch Oven Pot luck. Don't miss it.
Each night there will be a camp fire and a Hot Dog or Marshmallow cooking, plus a camp fire chat.

I am giving a way two night camping at the event. Plus a few door prizes.

"I am still planning on playing the game... "Who Will Pick-Up the T@B!"
Were I will pay for two nights of camping at Robbers Roost to the
lucky winner!

Right now, it looks like the game has something to do with a Super
Soaker Squirt Gun and bags of play money from "The Big Bank Job" in
"Salty" Lake City."

End.

Steve,

As you know there are no registration fees... or membership fees to join the Utah Salty Tear Drops trailer club.

I am not rich and have not won the Lottery lately. But, I sure do like our little trailers.

I have worked hard and long hours putting this club and the events together for you and the members.

If there is anything you would like us to do, at this camp out, to make it truly wonderful. I am all ears...

I hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if I missed anything?

Thanks Again,
Best Regards,
Paul

Door Prizes for Robbers Roost

Postby Yogi Bear » Sun Apr 15, 2007 12:50 am

Hello All,

Door prizes are starting stacking up in my office for the Run for Robbers Roost.

Also, there are about 8 trailers that have not returned the registration form to me for the Robbers Roost camp out.

Remember it FREE to register for the Run for Robbers Roost and join the Utah Salty Tear Drops. I need to know how many trailer and people to expect. I am making welcome packets and name tags and rounding up door prizes left and right. I need to have close count by April 30.

I know it hard to plan trips sometimes and get away from work.

But, I would rather have to many, than not enough and have to leave anyone out the fun...

Please send in your registration forms if you have not done so...

Thanks to the 14 trailers that have returned the registration forms.

See you in Hanksville!
Paul

I'm one of those 8  . It's sitting on my desk waiting to mailed out. I did step 1 but I still have to do the other steps (make the reservation and mail the registration). Thanks for the reminder though, I was planning on getting it out on Tuesday.

Sorry, I'm another of the 8 :(

We're hoping to make it, but things are still "iffy" at work, and I'm not sure which trailer I'll bring. I haven't got anything done on the tear this spring, and the weather hasn't allowed me to do much on the Bellwood since I got it.

I'll get the registration out tomorrow.

I sent in my registration and made my reservation on Monday.

One word of caution for those who haven't called yet. The phone number to the campground is at the bottom of the information sheet AND near the top within the text. If you call the number on the bottom it will say that it disconnected (which is a little unnerving) the number at the top is correct.

Hope to see you all soon!
