There was a camp ground next Pamplin Grove that was nice. It has flush toilet and showers. I think it was called Swimmer Delight. PM Dean in Eureka, Ca or the Teardrop Nanny. They would have more details.

When are you planning the trip down here? I'm not sure if the campgrounds are open much during the winter, I'll have to check with Dean on that one. Swimmers Delight would be a great place to see some trees. Keep us posted on what your plans are, perhaps we can hook up for a mini gathering.

Also one the prettiest rivers I have ever seen is the Smith river, If come down I-5 cut to the coast from Grants Pass, OR to Cresent City, CA the color of the river is like a teal color and crystal clear.

Munch,
We are gearing up for IRG2.0 in 2008, but I'm sure there will be an imprompt gathering here in the redwoods in '07. Joanie and I acted on some good advice from within the teardropping community and decided that the IRG event at Pamplin Grove needs to be a bi-annual event.
Swimmers Delight Campground, located on highway 36, right next to Pamplin Gove, is open all year but it's first come-first serve... No reservations. Typically, it's not a problem getting a campsite there, except during peak times during the summer. There is also a state "crampground" located a few miles further East... Grizzley Creek.
Pamplin and Swimmers are county run and are spacious compared to the state run campgrounds. Pamplin only accomodates campers if Swimmers is full and nobody has Pamplin rented for a private event.
Jed Smith Campgound, another state run "crampgound" also has some nice redwoods, but you might want to come a bit further South and tour the Avenue of the Giants. Let's see... Richardson's Grove, Burlington and Williams Grove come to mind as redwood camping areas South of here.

We will almost always be available for a mini gathering on short notice. The Humboldt County area has lots to see and do.
