Going south there are some different route choices, but once south of San Jose there aren't usually any traffic problems that we have ever found. On 101 just north of Salinas is a 4 lane highway that can be a little slower, but since trailers aren't supposed to go faster than 55 mph anyway, it doesn't really make any difference.

Me, I am thrilled we only have to drive 100 miles north. Piece of cake compared to going to Shasta & Mendocino.
We will be there Thursday after a few stops along the way.
