THX, emiller. We are looking forward to meeting you at one of the local events! Wifey is getting jazzed about the whole TD thing, too. Guess it's a family affair now. (less Buffy, Jody, Sebastian & Brian)

Some info on the Kirkland Gathering, please...

Postby myoung » Thu Aug 26, 2010 10:37 am

Hi, Eddie,

As you know, I'm still in the planning stages for building a TTT. I'd like to meet the local group and the Kirkland Gathering seems like a good opportunity to do that.

I could drive up on Friday or Saturday. Alternatively, if there is room and if it wouldn't be untoward, I could bring along my Airstream and stay overnight one or two nights. The Airstream isn't sufficiently vintage, but it is a 75th Anniversary Edition. It's also a bit large at 25 feet so there may not be any spot available there in Kirkland.

Could you please let me know if these options are okay?

Thank you. I'd like to come. There is so much to learn from those with experience and enthusiasm.

Other than the three days in Sep mentioned, I didn't find other details about the Gathering, the schedule, etc. Can you tell me more or where to go for more info. :D

There is really no schedule. We stopped doing full blown gatherings when we stopped doing dead horse Ranch in cottonwood. Most people just come and do there own thing and mingle. No money to send us you pay upon arrival. This gathering at Kirkland has showers and flush toilets. They have a bar and Steak House with live music on Saturday night. You can get an idea of the parking from the pictures on my web site. http://www.azroundup.net/photos/2009_ki ... index.html

Ad hoc works for me.

Just a gathering of friends with not much more organization than a place and time works well among some segments of the Airstream Forum population. I have marked the calendar and have confirmed the location of Kirkland on Google Maps. It's just up the road a piece so it shouldn't be hard to find.

When might folks begin to arrive?

The web site shows the dates as Sep 17th to 19th, Friday thru Sunday. Has this changed or do you generally come early?

I'd like to make the Kirkland run, but I have a benifet carshow on that Saturday and work on Sunday. I may come down Friday morning and then leave Saturday morning.

OK I just looked at the 2009 Kirkland pictures, now I really want to go. I guess I had better tell the Mrs. :)

I've seen quite a few of those cars/trucks/trailers on the AZ Route 66 Fun Run.

:applause:

Looks like I'll be bringing my truck & trailer on Friday but will have to leave Saturday for a benefit concert & carshow in Prescott Valley.

Where exactly are we meeting? Is it behind the Kirkland Bar?
