I like your trailer Randy. Good score on the chassis!

I almost bought a very rusty and short trailer made from an old Ford Model T today. It was mostly rust. The guy wanted $150 for it. (It was worth far less...like he should pay me to get it off his property.) I want to build a really rustic (and rusty) looking tear drop from 100% scrap (reused materials). I want it to look like The Beverly Hillbillies' tear drop. No amenities. None. :scratchthinking:

Perm, I have one Ford Model B rim here, came with the place I bought. And I have some buildings that need torn down with a bunch of corrugated iron on them. also have some wheels of the 40s or so. An old John Deere combine with door latches I used. could always make the outside handles instead of buying some made up ones. Also could always flatten some old cans to fill up holes

Actually just today I bought some foam and some plywood to start building a foamy. I got most of the iron for the frame couple a months back. Still haven't decided on the axle. Better get busy with that part shouldn't I

Wolffarmer wrote:But what a blast to build

While building my trailer I was hoping it was going to be as much fun to camp in as it was to build, turns out it's a lot more fun camping. :D

Since my build was in the driveway for all to see the daily progress it became a neighborhood event with folks stopping by to see the progress, met lots of neighbors I never had the opportunity to, and that was fun. Kind of like camping with other teardroppers.

Randy, will we see you in the build threads with pictures?

Hey Perm.

I have a mess of Coleman fuel cans. a bunch of those would make some nice shingles.

Humm...no shingles. Old barn tin. Or maybe I'll just fly to Germany and get one of these:

Thanks for posting, Prem. Some of the photos are really bandwidth thrifty (as in too small to really see). Definitely rustic and down home, not resortish, I like that. Is there just the one outside pool?

John,

No. There are now two outside mini-pools. Here's the photo of the second one just after it was finished in early June, being cleaned.
