Anyone going to Quartzsite RV Show?

Postby myoung » Tue Jan 24, 2012 6:08 pm

The RV Show runs from Jan 21st to Jan 29th this year. Is anyone there or going there?

If so, where do you suggest parking? In the Long-Term BLM locations or in the more remote BLM locations? I wonder if the $40 for the Long-Term locations is worth the bother for a two- or three-day stay?

Opinions and advice welcome. Thanks in advance.

Quartzsite parking

Postby donn-donna » Tue Jan 24, 2012 8:17 pm

We just left Quartzsite Saturday, the day the Big Tent opened. We always park in the free BLM 14-day areas. There are several - Mile marker 99 on Hiway 95 south of the tent; Plamosa Rd. north on 95 about 5 miles; Dome Rock area west of Love's gas station; Scadden Wash east of the tent by way of Keuhn Rd. about 4 miles. You can stay at these areas 14 days free. There are several places where you can get fresh water but it will cost you so arrive with a full water tank. The tent opens at 9 a.m. and gets real crowded real fast. Be careful - Quartzsite kinda grows on you.

Got back from Quartzsite today and had a good time. Had a chance to camp with Gary Ramsey 2 miles west on Dome Rock rd. Then camped inside the tent,

That's about where we camped heading back to California after Cabella's last year. Nice spot save that we could still see the freeway.

I'd rather be camping.

I stayed at Scadden Wash. Relatively close to I-10, but the access down Keuhn Road was handy and my trailer's insulation cuts down the sound of the passing semis.

Hard to notice my little TTT amongst the giants!! I swear that some of them had tires bigger than my trailer.

Hey Ed,

It was great to meet you and share a campsite for the night. Some pretty nice cars and trailers at the show. Can't say a whole lot about the RV part of the show though.
