Holy smoke - Got a new camera.

Wow, I just received my new Sony NEX-5N morriorless camera yesterday. Having been a advertising photographe/designer for 30 years and shooting with all the big equipment I am just sick and tired of hauling around the big ass cameras and equipment that goes with it and the ridiculous amount of money they cost. After exhaustive research I chose the Sony NEX-5N for my needs. This camera is the new technology - mirrorless just like the old 35mm range finder camera - it is small and compact. 16.1 megapixels and it also shoots panorama and stitches it all together into one neat image. It has an APS-C-sized sensor, as big as the sensors in all but the highest-end DSLRs, its body is no bigger than a point and shoot, especially when paired with the 16mm f/2.8 pancake lens. But because of how close the sensor is to the mount, you can use adapters to put lenses from almost any system on it (at least if you don’t mind losing autofocus.) So it can be as small or as big as you want it to be. It has more cool bells and whistles than you can imagine. Youtube has tons of great video reviews with this camera and it is a home run.
Here is one of many: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Zh4XDv-8rg
and another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ2Aixfu ... plpp_video

Here are a couple of quick snaps that I had a chance to take.

This afternoon I went to the Grubstake bar in Quartzsite to test the interior shots of a very dark bar with my new Sony NEX-5N. I sat down and ordered a Arrogant Bastard Ale and started to shoot the interior. Set the ISO at 3200 at F3.5, auto HDR. Wow! Hand held aperture priority works great.

I just purchased a Minolta 50mm F1.7 lens with adapter for the NEX-5N for $50.00. Cheap and sharp as the dickens. Great for low light. I am still waiting for the items.
More to come later.
Cheers,
Gary

Love the pictures , I am in the need to tell a little story about one and only time in i was in Quartzsite , about 5 years ago i took time off from work to visit my sister who had moved to arizona with her husband. my flight arrived at the Phonix airport and i was informed we were going to spend the week at quartzsite instead of scottsdale were my sister lived. after a afternoon of driving and me drinking we had arrived. we were staying at my nephews In laws place a very nice manufactured home in a subdivision south west of town. i was informed that i would be staying in there 40 ft motor home which i found out later cost over a million, the fridge was full of my favorite beer and the freezer was full of jack  . I am only telling this because the subdivision was full except for the lot behind theirs so after a few drinks and a dip in the pool i asked why the lot was vacant? The reason was because the neighbors who lived there had complanied about to much noise and to many parties so my nephews in laws bought them out and sold the manufactured home. :? nice to have money.

I've got to say, that shot of I-10 actually makes that place inviting. The camera lies... (I've been there...)

Actually, I really like the desert around there, just not the places that have all the people. Great pics!

Shot with Sony NEX-5N. Fixed the Santora Building. It was just to flat. Looks much better now. Adobe Lightroom is the software used. I love that program. It is much more convenient to use than Photoshop.
