need overnight stop advice

Postby desertmoose » Thu Apr 26, 2012 10:17 am

Kat and I will be taking our new tear on it's first long road trip in a week and a half. We will be leaving Minden Friday night or Saturday morning, going thru Vegas and on to Tucson to see her mom.

We drive slow and easy, so don't know where we will be when it's time to stop for the night. Probably will be around Vegas Saturday night, and ??? the next, if we don't end up in Tucson the second day.

What we need are suggestions for places to stop overnight. No cooking or camping, just park, sleep, and then get up and look for a diner for breakfast.

We're not adverse to Wal-mart if we have to, but would prefer something a bit more away from traffic.

Any suggestions for stopping points anywhere from Tonopah to Tucson would be appreciated. :)

Coming back will be a slower sightseeing type of trip. Kat wants to check out Lake Havasu, and then who knows from there? Maybe past Death Valley and up 395 to home.

This is the type of info we are looking for...

Please bear with me, The last time I drove through Tucson and Vegas was in 1979.. What is rail road pass? A casino?

Are there any places to avoid getting off the freeway while passing through? Some cities have sections that it's better to just not stop at.

Thanks, Sam

As I understand it WalMarts allow folks to park overnight in their parking lots. I think it's customary to inform the manager.
