True enough, Sam. I am still sad and will be for a long time about the trees, but I think it is not a reason to cancel when we have such good friends to hang with. We are good at makeshift shelter building after all! If we can do it for rain, we can do it for sun.

Dang it all. At least I was able to spend 3 nights there this summer with the trees. Will not be the same. How fast do sequoias grow?

On average, sequoias grow 3 to 5 feet a year, depending on how rich the soil is and how much water they are able to glean.

Good idea. Though in June the apples will just little nubs. But next year I can use one to get even more plums off my trees. Of course by then I am so sick and tired of plums, plums, plums. Something like spam.

Well, we are not gonna let a few missing trees spoil our fun. The grass will still be there! Bring your own shade! The gather remains a GO.

I had not planned to miss it. I am a desert camper anyway. Trees are right up town when you have them.

That is so sad about that beautiful area! :x I'm still pissed about someone cutting down the Shoe Tree on Highway 50. Trees are getting more and more scarce in the area, so we make sure to get a live Christmas tree each year to plant in our yard.

I am going to try to come this year and bring our neighbors. They are not gathering types, but I think they should see the area.
