Bluberry shortcake 'dogs

Postby wagondude » Sun Aug 25, 2013 1:25 pm

This weekend I made waffle dogs at camp with my Scout troop. The standard breakfast 'dogs with sausage and waffle batter for breakfast got great reviews. But the raves came when I decided to try a new recipe. I used an angel food cake mix. I added some batter to the waffle dogger then added some sugar coated fresh blueberries and topped with more batter. Close the iron and flip a couple times to cook evenly (remember to keep it well greased). They went so fast I didn't get a chance to get a picture of them. Net time I will do them with strawberries and serve them with some whipped cream.

Here is a pick of some of the strawberry 'dogs.

One or two on a plate with a few extra berries and some whipped cream and Bob's you uncle, as they say.
