Fire pit jerky

Postby JamesW » Tue Aug 17, 2004 10:57 pm

My wife introduced me to a new way to eat beef jerky. She is from Mexico and her father used to make jerky from scratch. (meaning he killed his own cow and everything) Go to Costco or some other bulk supplier. Buy a few bags of your favorite jerky. Get the camp fire SUPER HOT. After a couple of hours of the campfire running, scrape away a spot on the ground "in the fire". Then scrape the hot coals (SP?) back on the area you cleaned. Here comes the fun part... Place the jerky directly on the coals! Flip it after about 1 or 2 minutes. Keep it on for 1 to 2 minutes each side. Eat while warm. Bon Appetite.
