Selling My Tear

Postby mperk » Thu Jul 13, 2006 9:42 pm

I want to sell my 4x10 Tear (Kuffel Creek Plan) with many upgrades ie.. refrigerator, air conditioning, water heater, microwave am/fm/cd clock radio, Futon mattress etc... so that I can build a 5x10 Woody. I am not sure the best method for determining price. I know about what I have in it in materials but not sure about the sweat equity. Is this forum the best place to list for sale or should I also try Ebay? Any advice would be appreciated. After I fiqure out how I will try to post some pics of the Tear. The Tear is located in central Texas hence the need for A/C!!!!!

There are many different ways to look at pricing. One of the quickest, down and dirty, ways is to multiply the cost of materials time 2 1/2. You'd probably be surprised how close that comes to being a fair price for something you've made that you want to sell.

It was just a suggestion................my custom furniture is 4 to 8 times materials, and some times as much as 50 times materials. Just depends on the furniture. But for something like a teardrop I'd say 2 1/2 times materials is a good place to start. Just my opinion.

It also depends on the quality of the work. There are a lot of folks out there who could take a thousand bucks worth of material and turn it into a five-hundred dollar product.
