Hi, I'm New.

Camping in Ontario & Quebec and the Central Canadian Chapter of TearJerkers

Hi, I'm New.

Hi All!

I'm brand new to this forum. I just discovered (and became enamoured with) teardrops a few months ago. My husband and I are renting one for a long weekend in September. I'm looking forward to trying it out!

My parents were big RV-ers when I was growing up. Over the years, we had a pop-up tent trailer, a truck camper, a camper van (which my Dad built - one for him and for a neighbour), two class C motorhomes (which my Dad hand-built), and finally my parents bought a class C. We camped in provincial campgrounds and stealth-camped all over North America. Back then, I pretended to hate it, but I secretly loved it!

My older brother and sister now have fifth-wheel trailers. I like the idea of RV camping, but I've been finding it hard to justify the environmental impact. That's when I discovered teardrops and other tiny trailers and I feel like they are just perfect! I also love the idea of tiny homes (and I'm trying to convince my husband that we should downsize), so I think this is another reason why the teardrops really appeal to me. Can you tell I'm excited to try it out? :)

I'm glad to have discovered this forum. I'm looking forward to sharing stories and ideas and participating in whatever else goes on around here!

Hi Astar,

Welcome aboard.

We downsized from caravans to the Teardrop.
We will never return to caravans. Teardrops are the way to go.

Take it easy.

Hi Astar.
Welcome to the group.
There is an active camping bunch in Southern Ontario, with a few located near you (Hamilton and Burlington). Most time we post when and where we are camping, and everyone is welcome to join in.
Hope you have fun on your upcoming trip.

Sorry for not replying to the warm welcomes promptly. I thought I'd set this up to get email notifications with replies but I was obviously unsuccessful because I didn't realize I'd gotten any replies until just now. :)

I'm renting from AARV Rentals (http://www.aarvrentals.ca) in Bracebridge. Definitely not close by, but we aimed to find a campground *kinda* near Bracebridge so that the drive to pick up the trailer wouldn't be for naught.

I have no experience with this company, but so far the experience has been good.

I can't wait! I'm really looking forward to getting away and trying out the trailer.
