Brad nailer or nailer/stapler (at h/f)

Postby Arne » Mon Mar 21, 2005 12:11 pm

I'm going go be ordering (from h/f) the solar panel, sander, and want a brad nailer.

Is the nailer/stapler combo (18 gauge) a better deal for flexibility, or is it troublesome having a tool that tries to be good at two functions? I'm always a bit leary of something that tries to be good a too many things....

Thinking about it, is 18 gauge big enough for tear drop stuff, like attaching 1/4" luan to pine, etc.?

Arne-

I have their 18g Brad nailer - bought that first and then found a 1/4in crown 18g stapler they had on sell and bought that - I think each was under $20 or so. The brad nailer has a different point on it so I find it to be a little more accurate in where you set the brad. Having the two - it allows me more choices and I don't have to unload one gun and swap out the brads to a stapler etc.

Let me know what you think about the solar panel.

What do you use staple for, and do they stick up above the surface?

The solar panel has gotten good reviews, and I plan some 'wilderness' camping where juicing up the battery would give the bat a boost when I can't plug in somewhere... and the price seems pretty good.

When I get it, you can be sure you'll hear about my experiences.../g/

Arne, there was some discussion about the nailer in this thread http://tnttt.com/viewto ... sc&start=0

I ordered the combination one for $29 but it hasn't come yet.

Arne-

The stapler head does not stick above the surface. Right now I am using the stapler to cover very large speaker cabinets - but will look at using it to staple trim and fabric.

Greetings from Colorado!

I have had the combination brad nailer/crown stapler for about two years. Haven't had any issues with it. Of course, I am not using it for commercial applications. For occasional hobby use it is fine.

I have their brad nailer and at first was trying to use it with full shop pressure. On soft woods it was firing the head right through whatever I was trying to nail - so - I use an air pressure regulator to control how deep it burys the head. They certainly give you your moneys worth with some replacment parts et cetra.
