By all means, do travel safely, and I hope you are thrilled with your tear.

I may be naive, but there is an uncanny resemblence between the Canadian Tear and the Hunter. Is it more than coincidence?

Thanks,

Tom

Proud2BCND,

I very much wanted to pick mine up, but it was finished in December during a huge snow storm and I would have had to drive it over the Sierra mountain range in the snow. I chickened out :frightened: I was born in San Francisco. I'm lucky I know what snow is, let alone drive in the darn stuff.

I envy you, because I believe all non-builder tear drop owners can't wait to begin using the trailer. You pick it up and get to use it that night. Awesome!

Enjoy! Also, do be careful :)

Well I made it...17.5 hrs and just under 1K miles round trip...but I now have a tear in the garage :D

So far I'm very happy with the handling of the trailer...barely even noticed it was there except on the long steep hills...the Kia hamster mill was getting a real workout ;)

SanDiegan...I think it is likely coincidence, the builder wanted to make a replica of a 40's tear and that's what he and his partner came up with.

Sarge...I can't use it right away because its still fairly cold here...I'll likely be able to take it out for the first time around May.

Thanks for all the well wishes :)

Proud2BCDN,

That is one sweet looking tear. After 17.5 hours and 1K miles we need to change your designation to road warrior. You rock.

On the Hunter and Canadian Tear resemblence, I think both used the 1946 Kit as a starting point. Nevertheless, the galleys and interiors have an a lot in common. Hunter Galley: Image Canadian Tear Galley: Image
Different? Slightly. Similar? Very. Doe it bother me? Heck no, fine minds work alike.

I hope you get the maximum enjoyment out of yours. I can't wait until it is time for mine.

San Diegan,

Thanks, I'm quite impressed with the fit and finish as well. Laughing about the Road Warrior comment...

Yes they are very similar...and hadn't realised just how close they were...I hope I get the opportunity to park beside one someday :)

Why do they have 2 sets of tail lights?
I am NOT a complete idiot! Some of the pieces are missing.

The ones on the hatch look like reflectors. I'm wondering why they did seperate turn and tail lights

Edit: Oh I see those aren't turn signals on the back, they are the side markers. But I thought the rear side markers are supposed to be red and the ones in the front amber.

What are you guys lookin' at? I see 2 taillites, one on each fender, 2 reflectors on the hatch, and 4 amber marker lites, tho the back 2 should be red I believe, but maybe that's a Canada thing. What am I missing? LOL

Yep you guys got it right the hatch has reflectors and the tail lights are on the fenders...I'm not sure why all of the marker lights are amber, I will likely replace the rear ones with red lenses.

I just looked at pics of other ones that he built...they all have amber markers on the rear...must be a reason for it

If you stop in at Princess Auto they have a bunch of different size lenses for clearance lights. They probably have yours there so that you just need to replace the lense itself. They also had some 12v neon lights that plug into cigarette lighter for 9.99 that we picked up.
