Wife just gave my Chubby away today!

Postby Geron » Sat Mar 26, 2005 5:17 pm

And it's not even finished  Gave it to one of the boys. Now I gotta make 3 more. One boy already has an RV but he'll want a TD when he sees the gas savings so maybe it's 4 more I'll have to build 8) One for each kid and one for us.

Made it to about here today in construction

Light switches in. Final hookup and check out before Alum. skins.
My real hold up now is the windows backordered for 2 weeks :( . So the doors have to wait.

I set the rocker switches off the wall with a 1/2" bezel cut from 1/2" red oak to give more clearance behind the switches for wiring. I didn't want to mess with packing the wires in a 3/4" wall space.

If it's not broken, you're not trying hard enough.

 My wife keeps trying to give my spare tear to one of our three daughters. Uhuh ! Aint happening. That's great really. By the time you build all the others you will know exactly what you want in yours. Also you might consider bulk purchasing items. Just retain usage rights until you get yours done.

Yeah, someone told me once that to get the house you really wanted you need to build 3. May be true with the TD. I'm already making changes in my mind on the second one. Those silly curved doors are history!!!

I gave some thought to curved doors, but the curve is where you want the space to get your noggin in..... Square is kool.....

Or, give me function over form most any day...

Geron,
Hey, you've got just the switch I want. Where'd you get them?
Thanks,
Bruce
P.S. Nice work on the trailer. I keep thinking that I could really build a cool trailer with what I've learned on this one. That 4th trailer will probably have a flux capacitor or something in it.

Got them from Bleakly RV center in Douglasville GA. They are the standard Winnebago (sp?) switches - 'bout 3-4 dollars each. I just waltzed in and asked for double rocker switches. The lady brought these out.

Yeah, I gots to build another one. Too many "mistakes" and so much learned on this one. I coulda built another one with the time spent just "sit'n and figurin' " - "backin' up and doin' over." "tryin' this tryin' that"
