Remind me not to camp next to you   My brother would get those and stink up the whole camper. Phew!!

Stinky? Youbetcha! :) I never woulda dreamed I'd eat them, until one camping trip with a friend, we'd had a long hike and were starved...and I enjoyed them from that time forward. Not all the time mind you, but they sure are tasty and nutritious when you're hungry. :picnic:

Lynn- Whirly- Pop is actually a popcorn popper. It makes perfect popcorn every time. We have two of them, one for the house and one for the trailer. We got ours at Kohls. If done right, it pops every kernel in less time than it takes to make microwave popcorn.

No GORP listed yet? That's one thing I can't camp without. I have to mix up a big bag of GORP (or a GORP-ish blend of whatever strikes my fancy...but it's always gotta have a ton of M&Ms). And a VERY close secnd would be my coffee. :coffee:

You just put your favorite ingredients between two slices of bread, heat and eat!

 I couldn't help it but the first thing that came to mind was a cow standing to close to the fire.

CINNAMON'D ALMONDS (and variations below)

Acquire a pound of shelled raw almonds
Mix 1 tablespoon cinnamon with about 3 tablespoons brown sugar
Heat a cast-iron skillet
Melt a tablespoon of butter
Add the almonds and the cinnamon/sugar mixture, and stir to coat
Lower heat and cook until toasted

If you prefer an oven method, mix the butter, sugar, and cinnamon together; toss the almonds in this until coated, spread on a baking sheet, and bake at about 375 F for about 10 minutes.

Variations:
chili powder instead of cinnamon
ginger instead of or mixed with the cinnamon
good vanilla and bourbon added to the spices
You can also do this with pecans or walnuts.

Trail mix variant:
1/2 cup cinnamon'd almonds
1/2 cup ginger'd walnuts
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup salted roast peanuts
1/2 cup toasted sunflower seeds
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
Mix well, bag in snack-size zip lock baggies. Makes about 10 servings.
