I forgot who posted it but, someone showed a pic of their table. For the leg, they used an adjustable pole for a paint roller.

good timing, I just mounted my table bracket last weekend - the pics are the last few photos in my site

I was VERY happy with the table bracket for strength and mountability - but it looks like I may have mounted it upside down - DOH! oh, well, it seems just fine :)

I also picked up a cheap telescoping leg from my local rv store but didn't like it at all. It was only about 8$ and had way too much play between top and bottom telescoping leg parts. I think it would have held, but one small kick... if I ordered one, i would probably order the 30$ one that was in a link earlier in this thread. I have seen them before and they looked sturdy.

I ended up using an old leg that I pulled from an RV junkyard

I used an old telescoping pool brush handle and it costed me nothing since I already owned it, similiar in principle to Nick Taylor concept of the paint brush extension pole picture that he posted. The adjustments are easy and to set height. A simple twist and it is done

ex-minnesota-boy's (it took me a moment to parse that :) ) mount and Nick's paint pole solution seems to be the combination that works for me. Thanks, folks.

Tom,
I agree - the paint pole idea seems to be the ticket. They should be plenty strong. I will probably be exploring that option if I decide to put a side table on.
