What do you folks think of this cooler?

I like the 12 voltiness about it and the shape and size and price. It seems like it would work well in a teardrop.

I'm also drawn to the classic stainless coleman.

12V coolers just plain ****.... juice that is. They take up too much room for the amount of internal volume, can only cool so many degrees below ambient temperature... useless (my opinon). We had a Koolatron which drew 3.1A. Would drain the marine battery in about 17 hours.

We switched over to the Coleman Stainless Steel cooler plus another smaller cooler for drinks and we are now happy campers again.

If you have room there are the larger 5-6 day coolers which are apparently amazing with the ice.

12V cooler = warmish beer, sobernish
ice cooler = cold beer, :tipsy:

Most cheap coolers are crap. The tops are not insulated, for starters... Marine coolers seem to be a step up.... and white is the color of choice to keep ice lasting.....

I have a larger stainless version which never gets used because they only cool to 40 degrees under the ambient temp. In other words if it's 90 degrees out you will be drinking 50 degree beer and besides it is a constant 3amp drain and never shuts off.

We use an Igloo 12 volt cooler. It is nice when we are taking a long trip and doing a lot of driving (several days) since we don't have to buy ice. It definatly drains the battery when we are not driving all day. When we have access to 120 volts, we use a converter, instead of running off the batteries.

As for not keeping things cool enough, we have not had any trouble with that, but we make sure everything is pre-chilled before we leave, and usually are not out in 90+ tempreatures.

Those coolers can run a battery down in a night. If I forget to unplug the one I use in the truck when traveling, I have a dead battery in the morning.

One morning I was wanting to leave the motel early, however I had to call for a jump at 5AM. Not much fun. I originaly was going to use one in my tear, however ...

I'll go with the Coleman stainless. Wally world has them by the way for $78.88. You can order them to the store (7-10 days) and get free shipping ($12.75 value).

I don't think you can get the free shipping to your local store w/Walmart unless you are in Dallas/FtWorth area - I think that is still a test function of theirs - hope I am wrong :( I checked that out for the same reason....
