little guy trailer

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

I stole...er borrowed the shape of the little guy. My teardrop is shaped very closely to the little guy trailer. My floor measures 4'4" x 5'9". I'm 6'1" tall. Sounds too short? Mine has plenty of room for me.

If you notice the teardrop curves at the head area as well as the foot area. I use a 5" foam mattress and 2" topper. This is 7" of foam, which raises me up another 3-4". At 3-4" above the floor my teardrops length is (and I just checked it with my CAD as well) 83.4" or 6'11". So, If I slept laying straight out (which I don't, but it doesn't really matter) I'd still have 10" of room to spare. Some people don't have that much room in their larger teardrops.

I've had a lot of people say it was too small for them until they actually laid down inside it.

Just food for thought. :)

Steve, Thanks for posting that. I know the numbers say 5'9" or something but I have a areo bed that we use. It's 74" long and fits in quite well within the space and at the bottom there is plenty of room because of the curves at both ends. Until a person gets in and tries it, they won't be convinced that there is room.

The big difference I gather with the Little Guy or similar designs is that the lower cabin spans the whole length of the tear, including the lower galley area. More traditional tears have a divider about a foot or two in from the back to be used as part of the galley, thats why they are 8ft or even 10ft.

I thought the LG it looked small too, but never laid in one. Is there lots of room under the galley shelf so your not banging your knees when you bend your legs?

Yup. Now if I had a conventional teardrop galley, there is no way I'd be able to sleep in mine.

Not sure about the Little Guys, but mine is 18" above the floor. I roll around quite abit when sleeping, and haven't had any problems yet.
