Whats the size and weight of your TearDrop

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Postby Tripmaker » Thu Jan 17, 2008 2:34 pm

5 X 10 when I had it weighed partially loaded it was 1,320 lbs. I'm guessing fully loaded with gear (no food or clothing) 1,400 lbs. 170 lbs on the tongue.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Danny's 'ton of bricks' trailer has distorted the 5ft line a bit!

Do I get the prize for heavyweight? Based on the generic benroy plans, 5 x 10 weighed in empty at 1750 lb.

The latest thread on size and weight was last updated on September 1, 2013; but, these things get buried quickly.
Here's an address to click on to see the 108 trailers listed there:

Mine is built brutalistic, insulated, propane, battery, stove with oven, water, and the whole pantry/pots and pans. Six feet wide, ten feet long, four feet tall ( over the trailer) or six foot tall from the ground, weighs 1740 lb, and tows very nice with a 1991 4runner.

I recently purchased a "one off" designed and built by Roly Nelson. He called it the "Shrunk Bunk", but since "I" now own it, I call it thje "Squeeze Box". It measures 40 inches wide by 4 ft long and near 24 inches tall. We figure it weighs in round 200-250 lbs. Yes, it IS a Teardrop and once "deployed" it measures 40 inches wide by 7 ft long and 4 ft tall WITH a full galley !

Do you have any pictures of this?
Mine will be 4x8 built over a 40"x 48 harbor freight like Roly's stacker the bed is only 46x72. the galley is removable. This week the hatch goes on :applause:
