Nice start. Cant wait tell you get going on this one. Id love to do something like this. The only place I can put a trailer is in my garage so under 7' tall will be cool.
Thanks for posting.

Very nice Rob! Looks like you may have successfully reached the Holy Grail of TTT design - standy + garage-able. I can't wait to see this build progress.

I've followed some of your discussions about the suspension design on other posts. Sometime, if you get a chance I'd love to see some more pics of your suspension design.

@ Aggie79, Dexter has a air ride torsion axle very similar to Robs axle set up you might check out. www.dexteraxle.com

Those look like a really cool design, but unless I'm reading something incorrectly I believe the minimum capacity is 6000#. Maybe they make a lighter version.

Yeah I emailed Dexter to see if a lighter version is in the works or could be built. I'll post the answer if I get one.

I can't seem to find my way around their website I keep trying to find stuff on dropped axles and nothing

Use their search function at the bottom of the linked page and type in "Air ride torsion"

Tom,

I'm very excited about it too!
I dream often about how it will be to camp in it.
I've drawn many, many pages of plans and revisions, built scale models, and dabbled in design cad.
Pretty cool to "see it" before it is built.
I even did a full scale mock up in a gutted travel trailer, man was it nice!
So much room, so well laid out, all in a 14' box!

I'm currently stuck on the lift/lock, or no lock portion.
I have the air bags for the suspension adjustment, and raising/lowering.
A Panhard bar for side to side control, but am working through several ideas for towed ride height.

Hope to get back to it soon, as it will have enough room for the grandkids to come camping too.

Phew! That's a relief - I thought you were going to use the one-end-of-a-spring connection to hold the axle in place......

Hello Doris, you don't get on the forum very much do you? TrailerWorks hasn't been on sense 2008 and not only that, but they went out of business a couple years ago. :(

Gage,

It's ok if they went out of business. Them going out of business does not diminish the building of a beautiful trailer. I have been designing and planning a standy or cargo conversion and came across this tread. It's such a great build. I come and go on this site too. It's all cool.

The Woodie Love Bug is wonderful, but the genius of the subject of this thread is a little bitty, teeny weensie trailer with a bathroom!
You give up a lot of kitchen counter real estate to put in bathroom, but for many, it is worth it!

I just found this again. To answer Rob's now aged question, it's this PROFILE, the body as drawn, that's 76.5 high. I did nothing but come up with a few lines. Somebody with sense and experience needs to figure the ground clearance and such.

Anyone build such a critter yet?

Anyway, it should be 96" long by 76.8 inches high. So this profile is just shy of 6'5" tall! With a dropped floor of a couple or three inches, I should be able to stand inside, and I'm 6'4".

Hi Kermit,

Can you clarify a couple things please?

You say the trailer will be 76.5" high, right?
You are 76" high.
A dropped floor of two or three inches adds a little headroom for sure, but...

How much space is there between the body and the ground?
How thick in inches is the roof/ceiling, and the floor?

I've been working on a trailer that allows me to fit it under a 7' garage door (84")
I'm 6'-2" tall (74")
That leaves me 12 inches, but you need a little clearance not to rub, so say 11 inches.
So the trailer can only be 83" tall, total, from the top to the ground.
I need 74" for me.
The roof takes 2" then the floor takes another 2.5, leaving 4.5 inches. (74+2+2.5=78.5-83=4.5)
You'll need at least that much for clearance between the body and the ground, and in reality several inches more.
