Laun & Plywood sandwich?

Postby Syekick » Mon Apr 04, 2005 6:02 am

Based on an earlier thread I've a question.

For the sidewalls, it appears that Mike is using the 1/4" laun without mounting it to another sheet of plywood. (Before it goes against the frame.) Is that correct Mike?

That may be fine for the sides but I would think that the top would require at least two sheets of 1/4" Laun, one on top oe the other to give it enought strength from road damage.

The weekender is a stick built, luan covered, extruded polystyrene insulated teardrop. When complete it'll have the strength and rigidity of a SIP (structural insulated panel).

1/4" luan, re-inforced with EPS should be plenty strong. If you are not convinced, then add a layer of fiberglass to the outside before painting! :D

Mike...
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...
