Steve,

First off, I love your build of the Diner, it looks beutiful!

I like how you trimmed the sides to size, then cut the roof spar filler blocks out of the sides.

It looks like you either made a new pattern or trimed the one used to make the sides. My question is - how? Did you use an edge guide on the router?

I made a full-sized pattern, from Mike's template, used it for the sides and as a wall framing jig.
I took that first pattern and cut out that section for the roof/headliner. I marked it out with a marking gauge, cut it freehand with a jigsaw, cleaned up with a sanding block. I tooksome time getting it right, but,I used it to cut sides for two 'Diners, possibly more. I have all of the patterns for future projects.
I used a 1/8" spiral bit, downcut, and a guide bushing. I followed the first cut with the spiral bit with a zip-bit, in small bites. Zip bits will cut to a 1" depth, if you take it easy.
