Dimension needed

Postby mikeschn » Fri May 27, 2005 10:32 am

Can someone with a Harbor Freight Trailer, and 12" wheels tell me what the dimension is from the ground to the underside of the trailer frame, as shown in this picture...

Also tell me if you have your axle mounted under your springs or above your springs. It would be nice to have dimensions for both conditions.

Thanks,

Mike...

Hi Mike

I have the Harbor Freight #1175 trailer with the 12" wheels. The distance from the bottom of the frame to the ground is approximately 16 1/2" unweighted. My axle is mounted below the springs. Hope that helps!

That's perfect... now we need one with the axle above the springs... Arne? Anyone?

measurements

Postby An Ol Timer » Fri May 27, 2005 11:24 am

I have my HF 1154# trailer setting in the garage and I measured 19-5/8" to the top of the frame and 16-1/4" to the lower side. I also measured the distance from the bottom of the axle to the top of the spring and it was 2-1/2". Given this if I was to place the axle above the spring the measurment to the bottom of the frame should be 13-3/4" or reduced by the 2-1/2". The trailer was assembled according to instructions only having the stand removed.

I have the 1175 too, axle below too, but it's home and I'm here in the stupid office.

Should I leave work early and go measure it to confirm the above???

Better yet, I'll leave work early and reverse the mounting!!!

My HF 1800# with axle mounted ABOVE the springs measures 13.5 inches from carport to bottom of frame. (unloaded 12" wheels)

Perfect, thanks guys... back to the CAD system...

I'm having a hard time concentrating on the CAD, because the weather is so nice. Maybe I should just take the computer outside!!!

IRARAT, yes you should go home early.
