TearDeck Finally!

Postby campadk » Wed Jun 22, 2005 9:13 pm

Well after mucho research into building a TearDeck from scratch, or purchasing one, I finally found the perfect Deck for the Tear. Its a deck system made up of 1ftx1ft sections of fine red cedar slats with a plastic mat backing. Of course each panel can be connected to additional sections as I have done here.

In this configuration I get a 2ft x 3ft TearDeck providing a fine place to stand out and stretch in the morning before putting on my smelly sandals... life is good!

Now available at Home Depot! ... well at least in Canada...

Ikea also has something similar that would work.

Nice deck Dave. I gotta check that out. Would really help keep things tidy inside. Thanks again for a great weekend at Fish Creek Pond.

I made one out of 1 X 2" redwood slats screwed to cross pieces with brass screws. Also makes a great platform to stand on when showering.

www.sportsmansguide.com has something very similar to that for a pretty reasonable price.

It looks real nice Dave and it should help keep sand and mud outside. It could be used for a shower mat too.

Here's the one that was mentioned at Sportsman's Guide http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=146577 . It looks easy to make and real handy.

Um hmm. Y'all east of the Caprock can build them with mesquite and they'll last forever. Be stronger and prettier too.

You might bear in mind the cost of sawblades...

so far, the only think i have built for my tear is a deck. i found a park bench in a heap on the side of the road that provided some usable teak. I hope the car that ran over it before i got to it wasn't hurt too badly. :)
