Some Minden photos...

Postby DestinDave » Sun Jun 26, 2005 8:45 pm

I've posted a bunch of photos to the following:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/olde_beachbum/my_photos
1. Congratulations to Doug Hodder on his "Camper's Choice" award for his awesome trailer.
2. Thanks to George, Grant, the staff at Pioneer Village, and countless others for a great weekend - everything seemed to go off without a hitch.
3. I wish I had the Salty Tear ready to use but until boating season dies down there's no time for anything but work, eat, and sleep.
4. It was really nice to meet so many people and see all the tears up close and personal. I can honestly say that photographs do not do justice to the beautiful work I saw exhibited everywhere.
5. Sorry, no names or titles under the photos but you'll recognize most if not all.
6. If anyone objects to their tear or car in this album, please let me know and I'll remove it promptly.
7. Hope you enjoy the pics half as much as I enjoyed taking them.
8. I'm sure many more Minden photos and stories by other attendees will follow in the next week. Look forward to all of them..... Dave Speicher

8) Good pictures, looks like everyone was cramed in there. Saw lots of trailers I know, wish I would have gone.

Cool! Do you know the purpose of the material/tarp over the hatch in this picture?

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/olde_beac ... pg&.src=ph

Look at this canopy on the tear at the rear, following the lines. Custom-made? Or have you guys seen this before?

Check out these hatch props!

Four-wheel trailer!

Come on--does this really work!

The guy that owned/built this teardrop was great. He won the award for best teardrop ambassador (not sure if that was the exact name of the award). If you check out the detail on his trailer, you will see that he has incorporated teardrops into everything (check out the drawer pulls, paper towel holder, and other trim). He had a wooden tounge and carved a wooden coupler for it (used for display only).

The wheel covers were made of wood, that the 4 wheel trailer pic was actually his spart tire leaning against the tear.

The toaster included wooden toast, and it would pop up when done! He was also working on a wooden dutch oven.

That's Roly Nelson... His build photos are hosted on Gage's webpage...

And yes, Roly is one heck of a wood worker!

A great guy, great woodworker, and great conversationalist... He's also single-handedly responsible for my teardrop addiction. I forget how I came across it but when I saw his teardrop build journal last August I was hooked. Then I moved and was without Internet until I moved to St Peters in November. First thing I did was look it up again, show my wife, and before she could say "NO" I found this site. Now all I gotta do is build, right?
Huh? A Teardrop Master without building one? Sounds like an engineering title...
