I'm building a 4x8 TTT initially aiming for 1000 lbs or less total weight / 100 lbs tongue weight (the max weights as stated for towing in the owners manuals). I probably will exceed tat weight. I named it the "HHRv". I never started a build thread, but have many posts and photos in my gallery of my extremely slow build (very limited hands-on time, sporadic funding, modding as I go). A year in, but aim to finish before 12-21-12. I hope.

Build finished, finally weighed, goal of 1000lbs vastly exceeded! Final weight (as loaded for travelling will be 1438lbs. So much for the HHR or Cobalt as tow vehicles. 1280 as weighed, but items not weighed at this time bring it up to 1438lbs. I would've exceeded the 1000lbs recommended weight, and still towed it at 1250lbs, but 1438lbs is a bit too much. We'll get a mid-size truck or SUV eventually to replace one of the vehicles we now have, but until then, the '99 GMC 1500 (red, wife's) or the '04 Chevy 2500HD (white, mine) can definitely pull it.111153111154111162

I picked up my TD from NC and drove to Colorado... Had no issues...

TD weight around 920 lbs

That will be my tow vehicle for now... Looking at getting a truck or SUV and getting a Scotty or something close to it...

We have towed Miss Piggy 1450lbs over 6000 miles this Summer behind Sandi's 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe (270 hp 6 speed auto)
At 90 + mph you don't even know the trailer ids there.

I have that problem with my Toyota FJ. After a few neck cranings, you learn to stop about 5 feet short of the line. Then you can see the signal head.

I'm 6'4", and will agree heartily with the traffic light issue. There are a couple fixes, though. One is a prism-type device that mounts on the dash, and I guess a mirror might work in a pinch.
I picked up a Suburban recently, as a combination family-fun vehicle and commuter for those mornings when my aging neck is feeling a bit too stiff.

My HHR (Herman) has been a fantastic little car otherwise. I have a class 1 hitch receiver, and it tows my jon boat just fine, but it's used more for a bike rack than anything else.
