Clever woodburning stove

Postby Treeview » Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:45 am

A firebox and chimney built into one unit!

It looks like this might eliminate the need to bring along a saw and wedges.

Yes...remember...R&D does NOT mean Research and Development. It really means Rip-Off and Destroy

I'd make it with three legs and maybe just a little more leg splay. The legs would be short enough to slip down the chimney for storage.

Keep the leg socket ends under the 'dripline' of the top would keep it compact.

here's a refinement...since the wind is NEVER blowing in the right direction the unit could easily be mounted on a swivel base. Then, the draft is better and the smoke is going away.

There is some sort of 'badge of honor' earned from cooking with the smoke blowing in your face though!

Now I'm going to start looking for scrap materials to make one!

That thing is known as a "Rocket Stove" and they work really well, that is the rocket stoves. Don't know about the deadwood.

those are some pretty good stoves I like the idea of battery charging would be a good way to extend a camping trip by recharging the batteries

Wow! The BioLite sounds great!

I wonder about durability and life span.

That would solve the issue of trying to find a Currant Bush for recharging

I bought this stove about 8 yrs ago for 24.95. Now 29.95. It is small but works half way decent. If it is to hot for a large campfire it's great for marshmellows. I have cooked chicken kabobs, steaks, hot dogs and hamburgers on it. Just a smaller version of a charcoal starter. Geared more for backpacking but I use it car camping. Can use twigs, charcoal, and alcohol. (Which you can buy an adapter for.)

I'm not a farmer...an arborist...but I can handle metal cutting and welding as easy as I can a chainsaw and rope.

The idea and fabricating is easy. Marketing and selling is the key!

That Deadwood stove is missing one thing of a real rocket stove. A real on is insulated. Unless there is a smaller pipe inside the upright right one for and airspace between the two. I didn't bother to watch the video to see if I missed it. I have seen to many videos of rocket stoves already. And I just wanted to jump to conclusions.

(rocket stove with a thermocouple for phone charging.)

but the voltage must be about 5 VDC for USB. I want the 12VDC model. :-)

Interesting, I was looking into purchasing one of these for the spring. I like this one, http://www.stockstorage.com/heavy_duty_ ... stove.html

because you can use charcoal as well for long lower temp cooktimes. I did see another one with doors that you can close to lessen the draft so lower temps longer burntimes.

So many decisions out there lol

That Grover stove is not to much more than the "non" rocket stove. The Grover will probably burn cleaner.

Weigh more, take up more room.
