Old Mystic Teardrop Gathering...

Postby mikeschn » Sun Jul 18, 2004 5:07 pm

Hey Guys,

We got back from the Tearjerkers Gathering at Old Mystic, CT today. It was a great get together. I got to meet a lot of really friendly people and check out approx 20 teardrops. I took a bunch of photos, but looking at them now, I didn't take enough. But I'll share what I have, as soon as I have time to go in and resize them all.

It was fun to see some of the really nice tears that we've been looking at here on the board lately. Tears by builders Steve Fredrick, Ross Wade and Joseph Ruckman were there. Also some older teardrops, like the Scotty Teardrop, and the Modernistic, which was all aluminum, and weighed a total of 400 lbs, with a tongue weight of... hmmmm... couldn't have been more than 40 lbs. Even Bev could tow that one!!!

Anyways, I'll get those photos up later...

By the way, Mike won an award for furthest travel to the gathering, Ross won Best Galley, I won Peoples Choice. The best award for me was the trip and meeting a bunch of great people!

What a wonderful turnout we had at Mystic. All trailer types and sizes, ( and distances too Mike) e-mail me offsite and tell me your mailing address so I can get your award out to you in the mail. Picture of the award is on my fototime website. congrats and thanks for making the journey! You and Michelle impressed everyone with your ingenuity and craftsmanship with the Baja Benroy.

best regards,

Brian and Stacey Ernst

Loved all the photos. Looks like a great time!

It was fun to see Steve's beautiful trailer, out of the garage and in action!
All the woody trailers looked really nice. They sure have a special appeal to them.

Fun seeing the "little guy" trailer. I had given some serious thought to buying one of those myself. And the tent that you can buy to go with them is just about the neatest accessory I've seen!

Thanks for all the pics!
Bev

(Joseph, you've got a really nice looking dog there too! Looks like he'd take up a little space! Did he sleep in the trailer too?)

Hey Bev,

Actually, Sarah's a she. <G> When we're primitive camping (blankets & knapsack) she takes up more than a little space - she's a real blanket hog!

Not when Christine is along, no. Sarah sleeps in the truck.

It was great to finially meet you all in person, Mike & Michelle, Joseph&Christine and Steve & Phyllis. You all helped in the building process with your knowledge and experience and I thank you all. This winter I will be hopefully starting on my second teardrop. Isn't there a Second Teardroppers Club Mike?

Hope to see you all again soon, Ross

I posted some additional photos I put together from the awards. Please check them out. Our illustrious leader on this board won for his incredible 900 mile haul out to CT. WTG Mike!
