Harbor Freight trailer question

Postby Flyfisher » Wed Jul 28, 2004 5:31 pm

I am currently workign on my designs for my teardrop but I need a little information in order to get the plans down on paper first.

1. How high does the wheel extend above the frame on the harbor freight trailer rated for 1800?

2. What is the diameter of the wheel?

3. Distance from back of trailer to center of tire?

Hi Fly fisher

I am also using the HF 1800 Trailer.

Using plans from Kuffel Creek

dont know the distance the wheel extend above the frame can measure it tonight.

The wheels are 5.3 -12" tublesss 6PR

on the plans calls to move the axle 36" from the back of the trailer..

but they cut off 2 1/8 " off the back of the trailer . I did not do that .

there was a bolt all ready line up to mount the axle with so I used that

I am about 38 to 39 " from the back gave or take a little cant remember

right now ??? hope this helps photos of trailer at

re the 1,800# model... is the spring/axle unit mounted so it can be moved under the frame for balancing....?

I had been thinking about using my utility trailer, but am now considering this trailer.... thank you for any input..

with the unloaded trailer frame, no floor or body, the tires apear to be only apox 2.5 to 3 inches above the frame. Of course this will change somewhat as load is added to the trailer compressing the springs. Only an estimate, I have not measured this.
