North West Chat

Postby Vedette » Mon Sep 22, 2014 10:18 pm

Well here we go!
After some discussion this past weekend at a Washington State Gathering, which would have been a wonderful opportunity for NW Teardrop enthusiasts to enjoy a spectacular Autumn weekend in a fabulous venue. But, unfortunately it was poorly attended!
We decided that this post "North West Chat" would be posted in the "General Discussion" section of this Forum, to encourage the TD friends we have made over the past couple of years, to keep in touch openly.
This will allow us to share our Teardrop Camping Related experiences and plans, with our NW circle of friends!
You guys all know who you are.......and how this can help us plan more successful events in the future.
Please plan to participate in this post!
Lets' take advantage of this Great Forum to keep ourselves informed by keeping this post at the top of the list forever.

Thought I posted here this morning but don't see anything now so here goes again....

Heading over to Lk Chelan State Park on the weekend of 10/18-19 as we do every year at this time. Weather is always great, scenery is spectacular and the park is usually empty. I joined this forum before the TJ forum and so have two usernames just to confuse things. Can't seem to figure out how to change either one so guess I'll just lead a double life.

Please stop by and say hello if you are in the area.

Thanks Bill & Susie
I have just come in from a visit with new members of our B.C. Chapter of the TJ, and our topic of discussion was your Lake Chelan Campout.
I was also telling them about this "Chat" post, and how we could use it to find some of those NW Teardroppers to join us for this Fall Campout.
We will be there!

Hey Brian & Sandi,
We're here with you guys. Glad you guys hooked up with Ted. Ted sorry we couldn't wait to chat with you, but had lots of miles to cover on Sunday. Talked to Larry after we got home, Brian, sounds like you had an adventure getting Miss Piggy's tire fixed. Brian, we took you suggestion and stayed at Confluence. Nice park. Were only 4 camp sites left when we got in Sunday evening. Looks like we going to make 1 more outing this fall to Colorado. I know we won't have the great weather we had for the North Cascade trip. :NC

Hi Jim & Jean
Great to hear from you.
Sandi & I stopped at Confluence for a picnic lunch on the way home from the Agricultural Museum Gathering in Yakima last weekend.
Weather was just as good as our weekend with you guys the week before.
Glad to see you here on the new "Chat" post :applause:
This will help us all communicate at once, and will be a handy tool for gathering participants for our Hwy. 20 Crawl in 2015.
Enjoy your trip to Colorado! 8)
And give us a report when you get back.
Oh, and Ted is going to co-ordinate the western campgrounds (start or finish line of the Crawl)
Good Camping
Brian & Sandi
PS
Once again, Thanks for the fun time in the Cascades.
can't wait to do it again!

Brian, on my days off I made another trip up to Baker Lake after I saw you and Sandi to get a better look at Panorama Point Campground. It is just 2 miles past Boulder where you guys stayed, nice and level with 15 camp sites, 4 or 5 off them are tent sites only but I'm thinking if we could reserve most of the place if there were enough of us we maybe could have it to ourselves. Easy access to the lake. but no showers just the concrete pit toilets like the IRG. Their paper work on the net says 9 sites can be reserved, rates are $16 per nite. Horseshoe and Swift Campgrounds both have the group sites for $75 per nite. The only showers I found were at Swift but they are one outside 'rinse' showers only - no bath houses. Swift is the biggest campground and has a group RV area site with about 10 back-in spots in a circle around a center grass open area with tables and its own restroom. Info for Baker Lake is available on the web and at the National Park offices in Sedro Woolley, Wash. with the US Forest Service which is were my US Army friends whom I have know for 40 years work - we met when we were stationed together in Germany and they live next to me today here on Camano Island. Just some info to think about for next year. Ted

Jim & Jean, sorry I missed you. On Saturday I drove up after work getting there around 2 pm (I work from 0430 to 1230 fri-tues) and after checking all of the campgrounds I left around 5 heading home. Figured you guys may get there later. Came back up again after work on Sunday and figured I would drive to the furthest campground first checking them on the way out but just as I got to Horseshoe Cove I turned in only to see Brian & Sandi driving out. After I was able to get turned around than the fun started - a 79 hp Suzuki Swift (GEO Metro) is not much of a match for a 270 hp Hundi being driven by a wild driven Ca'Nook!!!! But, it does get 44+ mpg and is a good work car and even a greater car for just "driven aimlessly" wherever too. Take Care and hope to see you at either the next Farm Gathering or the planned "Crawl" next year. Ted PS I live about 60 or so miles from Baker Lake and used to go there as a kid with the family.

So....who is going?
Wish we were, but have another event to attend this weekend.
Hopefully the rain is past you guys by then??
We wouldn't want to "Officially" change the name of this Great Event to you know what. :R
Have Fun!
You know Marianne & Maureen will be organized rain or shine, and will have some fun planned.

Hi Ernie, We would love to see you in Chelan. It's one of the last times we'll get out this year but it's always been great in the past. Golf, biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing and wine tasting with no crowds to fight. Can't beat that!

Did you get your Cozy in Oakridge or Springfield?
