Yes there is a screen. I guess it would depend on the direction of the rain. It won't run the fan motor unless the dome is opened a certain amount.

One thing that I noticed just now - His site mentions an Insulated Dome too... Is there a benefit to that...???
Kind of a silly question but i had to ask?

The trim bezel on mine was cracked when it arrived. It was not a big deal because it was purely cosmetic. I inquired about buying another one, next thing I know, I had a new one show up on my door step.

I was just going to use the cracked one because it would hardly get noticed. I figured that I would ask about a replacement in case knowing the crack was there would bug me later on.

Scott is definitely a pleasure to deal with.

.
Also it is my notion that these fans are designed for much larger campers and therefore move a lot of air for a TD? Others would know more about tht aaspect, no?[/quote]

I work for an RV manufacturer. While I can't comment on what fantastic fans are designed for, I can tell you that we usually use them as a toilet room vent fan.

Best,

I've used a Fantastic Fan, and yes it moves a lot of air. I now use a Northern Breeze, with a slider control that lets control the exact amount of air I want to move. Having that flexibility is definitely an asset in a teardrop. I can even use it as a way to move warm air from the ceiling to the floor level on a cold day (the roof lid stays closed).

Mike...

Actually I have...it will be a combination wet well, salmon and crab keeper, and Budwieser chiller.... fiberglassed in, insulated with a drain.

I have Ira to thank for that...you really need a keg setup for a good cookout...but a Tear being so small, you have to think multi-use and reserve room for either a 40 lb King or 2 cases of Milwaukees finest!!! Here in Alaska..ya got to have provisions just to make it over a weekend!!

Ok here is the reply we received from Scott - About use in rain and screen

Like any electrical device---water is not good. If you open the vent about 2" until the dome switch is activated and have the vent on exhaust --you can run the vent in the rain. If it is a hard rain and dripping into the trailer--shut the dome! Opening the vent all the way open in the rain is not good---for the fan and the inside of the trailer.

There is a screen on the vent.

Your vent has a thermostat which turns on the fan at your preselected setting. If the dome is open until the dome switch is activated, the fan will be controlled by the thermostat.

Regards,
Scott
