Calling for 10 year and longer members

Postby robfisher » Wed Jul 27, 2016 5:25 pm

Has anybody else wondered if an old forum friend still checks in from time to time? I've been reading and posting in this forum since January 2005. Many have been here longer. It would be fun if our longest running members would just check in and let us know you are still out there, still interested and still reading this forum, even if you never post anymore.

We have over 22000 members. I still find that exciting. I don't wish to exclude anybody because each member is amazing. I would just like to know who of the original members are still with us. If you've been a member over 10 years please take the time to say hi. Let's see if this works

Wow, I've been here since 2005!

12 years for me. I caught the bug back in 2004, found this forum and lurked off and on for the first ten years. I had no place to do a build until a few years ago. I finally got to scratch that itch, and I'm loving teardrop camping.

Bruce, you got me beat by about 2 months.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

I joined the forum in January 2006, & began to build our TD in May. Made the first camping trip in Sep 2006, even tho the TD wasn't completely finished inside. It was campable & I finished construction that winter. We've since towed the TD close to 30K miles & still enjoy it but as we age we find we 'need' more comfort than the TD can provide. For the past year we've been making our trips in a 2001 Casita 17' Spirit Deluxe. We find the bathroom & fridge in the Casita are more to our liking. Still visit the forum daily unless we're 'on the road', & enjoy keeping up with the activities of forum members, some of whom we actually know, & others that we feel we do... Our grandaughter & her husband have laid claim to our TD, & they may end up with it eventually?

WOW , next month makes 11 years for me, I had no idea.
I still check the forum several times a day and post when I can contribute something worthwhile.
It's been a fun ride. :vroom:

Wow, what timing - my 10-th year anniversary was just 2 days ago.

Although I enroll in almost nothing on the net, I decided to join this forum about a month after I purchased an HF kit but had no firm plan as to what I was going to build. My problem was I spent too many years with paper, cardboard and engineering calculations looking for the perfect design without ever actually deciding what to build (the so called analysis paralysis). Although I never found any interest in traditional teardrops, I encountered a post that finally encouraged me to act. (I’ll edit this and put a credit here if I relocate it). It was not his trailer that inspired me, no, it was his philosophy (at least as how I reacted to it): Building a usable trailer should not be a single endeavor to build the perfect camper, rather build what you can and improve as you use it camping. To that end, I am very thankful.

Found my way here looking for information about teardrops.
Ended up buying a Freedom Teardrop out of Oregon.
Used it a few years until I moved on to the vintage standie, 1960 Kenskill that I still use.
I still check the forum most days and blame it for my cast iron collection.

Bobhenry, Just as Barbossa said of parlay, 10 years is really just a guideline. You have contributed incredibly to this forum and I kinda thought you we here back in the dark ages. Thanks for taking the risk and Welcome to 10 Years After.
